This is for the Curls they don't teach us about—my blog.
Welcome to my blog! This is a space dedicated to celebrating our natural curls, learning how to care for them, and overall learning to love the hair we were born with. If you're like me, you've probably had a love-hate relationship with your curls over the years. Whether it's shrinkage frustration, breakage confusion, or a drawer full of half-used products that didn't work for you, I've been there too. And that is exactly why I started this blog!
Why does this blog exist?
This blog is more than just product reviews and styling tips (though you'll get those too!). I created it to:
- Educate people about natural hair, because curl care isn't always talked about or taught
- Share what I learn through research, personal error, trial-and-error, and potential collaborations
- Help others love their texture, whether it's coils, kinks, waves, or anything in between
- Challenge traditional beauty standards and the idea that healthy, beautiful hair only looks a certain way
This is also part of my CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) journey within the IB Program, and I wanted my project to reflect something that is important and deeply personal to me. My hair is a reflection of not only me and my culture, but also my family and those who came before me, so I wanted my project to be intertwined with this.
What you can expect
Coming up, I'll be posting a variety of things, including:
- My favorite curly hair products (and honest reviews)
- Tips on moisture, breakage, and how to build a healthy routine
- Posts about shrinkage, curl identity, and confidence
- Media that correlates with our curls and loving them (inspirational songs, characters, etc)
- Maybe even some collaborations with other "curlies"
This blog is for anyone with curls or anyone who is interested and wants to learn. Whether you're beginning your natural hair journey or searching for a few new tricks, I truly hope this space makes you feel informed, seen, and empowered.
